Arbroath Abbey

Arbroath Abbey is famed for being the place where Robert the Bruce signed a declaration of Scottish independence. The abbey is a ruin now, but the visitor's center gives a good history of the campaign for independence and the pink stones are still quite impressive.

Here lies King William the Lion.

This tower kept looking like a planted fish to me, with a giant eye and gaping mouth.

I loved the ceiling of the basement in the relatively intact Abbot's house.

It was a busy day. I journeyed onward to Stonehaven.
